2012 Clemson verbal commit Lucas Sims took his official visit to Clemson over the weekend.  One word summarized the official visit weekend for the top right handed pitcher, awesome.

“The visit was awesome.  All the recruits were awesome.  We all bonded pretty good over the weekend.  It was a great weekend,” said Sims.

What did the visitors do while on campus?

“We came in Friday and met with the coaches a little bit.  Then we went out to dinner at Calhoun Corners.  Then we went back and hung out with our host.  Saturday we went to a tailgate and then went to the game.  After the game we went downtown and then hung out with our host,” said Sims.

On Sunday Lucas and the other visitors got to see coach Leggett in action.

“Sunday morning we went to see the team practice.  It was awesome.  I love the way coach Leggett organizes everything.  I can’t wait to get there,” said Sims.

What did the coaches tell the prize recruit?

“They told us to have fun.  They said they were excited for us to come up for our visits.  They said they were glad to see how much fun we were all having together,” replied Sims.

Lucas has been a frequent visitor to Death Valley this year.

“I went to the Auburn and Florida State games.  The team is awesome.  We got to hang out with Sammy and Tajh Saturday night.  He said he was going fine and would be back this week,” said Sims.

Last fall Lucas committed to the Tigers.

“It was about this time a year ago.  It was last November.  Honestly I just decided why not go ahead.  I fell in love with Clemson, the coaches, the campus, the baseball program, the academics and everything,” said Sims.
