Rally Cat Report

By Nicole Smith.

Last weekend was full of tons of excitement including, homecoming, Tigerama, and the Tigers beating Boston College! All of which the Rally Cats were able to experience firsthand and dance through these exciting events. Prior to our big Tigerama performance the Rally Cats greeted many Clemson friends and families out on the lawn of LittleJohn for a fun “pre” pep rally event! We were able to take pictures, sign autographs, and participate in a few of the games that were set up outside. All of us were very nervous about performing at Tigerama, and our excitement was building as it hit 6:30pm and we were all in our locker room, getting ready, stretching, and reviewing all of our dances. When the clock hit 7:05, the Rally Cats and Cheerleaders made our way down to the tunnel of LittleJohn where we waited anxiously for our chance to step on the stage! After our team prayer and our captain pumping us up, all of us were more than ecstatic to show the Clemson community how hard we had worked! The crowd roared with excitement throughout each of our three dances that we performed and at the end, we were all so incredibly proud of how well we did! Tigerama 2011 was a sure success and as a Senior Rally Cat, I can honestly say being able to perform at the nation’s 2nd largest student run pep rally is something that I will miss the most about being a Clemson Tiger.

After a successful performance on Friday night, all of us were ready to dance at the football game on Saturday! The weather was beautiful and we were able to wear our new uniforms that were designed by our very own junior captain. The game kicked off with the Tigers scoring the first touchdown, and the sounds of the Clemson University Band sang through the stadium as we danced along with sheer pride and excitement. There were many points in the game where we were able to show our dancing abilities due to the Band playing awesome new, upbeat songs! Having the Tigers win, once again, and making our team 6-0, was the cherry on top of a perfect homecoming weekend in Clemson, South Carolina.

After having such a great weekend, it was hard to find the motivation to study for the week of midterms that all of us Rally Cats are going through this week. Even though all of us as a team spend plenty of time dancing together, you can also see us around campus studying together, eating together or just enjoying each other’s company. In practice this past week we have been focusing on sidelines for basketball season that is starting very soon! We are also preparing a fun dance routine that we will be performing at Zeta Tau Alphas Big Man on Campus pageant on Wednesday, October 19th in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month! Meanwhile, all of us Rally Cats are looking forward to a nice fall break at home with our families and taking time off from school and practice. We all cannot believe how quickly this semester going by, and we look forward to all that we have ahead of us!
