The Clemson Tigers picked up commitment No. 18 Monday night when South Aiken defensive tackle Josh Brown told head coach Dabo Swinney he was ready to commit. Just three days ago Carlos Watkins gave a verbal commitment to the Tigers.
“I had been telling people it would just happen one day. It just came out of nowhere. I just woke up and said Clemson would be a good place to be. I talked to my secondary coach today and he gave me some things to think about,” said Brown.
Monday Josh gave coach Swinney the good news.
“I talked to coach Swinney and we talked for a while. I told him I had been wanting to wait so I could focus on my season, but things just weren’t going away. We talked about football and my future. I told him I was ready to commit to Clemson. He was excited. He had everyone sending messages to his phone,” said Brown.
How firm is the 6-5, 275 pound defensive tackle?
“I am about 95 percent. I am done with my visits,” said Brown.
The top defender will not make it to the Valley this weekend.
“I have to take my ACT,” said Brown.
Georgia Tech also offered Brown and a number of other schools including NC State and Kentucky were showing strong interest.
