As TheClemsonInsider.com takes our baseball coverage to a new level we will introduce you to all of the current Clemson baseball commits.  The latest in the series is Byrnes outfielder Steven Duggar.

Last year Steven made the decision to join his best friend at Clemson.

“I committed to Clemson last fall.  It was right after my birthday.  It was the North Texas game last year.  I just came down for a visit.  I had been talking with some other schools as well.  Daniel Gossett was my best friend and he had already committed to Clemson.  They showed interest during that visit and I was ready to commit,” said Duggar.

Earlier this year the Byrnes standout took his official visit to Clemson.

“I came down for the Boston College game.  It was awesome.  My host was Trevor Kieboom.  We ate at Calhoun Corners.  It was great.  I got to meet a few new recruits.  I had known most of them already as we have a good network going.  It was a great time.  We had a blast at the tailgate that morning before the game,” said Duggar.

Where does Steven believe he will play at Clemson?

“I will play anywhere in the outfield.  I can play left, center or right.  I don’t care.  I will play anywhere I can help the team,” replied Duggar.

Coach Leggett has built a special relationship with the future Tiger.

“Like I said Daniel Gossett was my best friend.  Once I started getting interest I always went down to Clemson with Goose.  I always went with his family and tailgated.  Last year at the Palmetto games coach Leggett started to really show interest.  We started talking a bit and then I took my visit.  He really related to me a lot because of the family aspect.  When I was ten my father passed away.  He knew what it was like to lose a father at a young age.  He really related to me.  It was great.  I really respect him and look up to him,” said Duggar.

Steven expects Byrnes to be back in the hunt this season.

“Fall practice has been unbelievable already.  Coach Moss is definitely the right guy for the job.  We are just trying to get back to the state and this time put some jewelry on our fingers,” said Duggar.
