Three Tigers Make SI All-American Team


Clemson, SC—Sammy Watkins, Dwayne Allen and Andre Branch all were chosen to All-America teams by Sports Illustrated’s website, on Tuesday.  Watkins was named a first-team All-America as a kick returner, while Allen was the first-team tight end.  Branch was named second-team as a defensive end.

            This was the third first-team All-America selection for Watkins announced today and his fourth overall.  Earlier he was named first team All-America as an all-purpose player by and as a wide receiver by Pro Football Weekly.   He was earlier named first-team by

            For Allen, this is his third first-team selection.  Earlier he was named first team by and the Football Writers Association.

            This is the fourth time Branch has been named a second-team All-American.  He also made second team according to, and the Walter Camp Foundation.

            Clemson also had three selections to honorable mention All-America teams by Sports Illustrated.  Quarterback Tajh Boyd, center Dalton Freeman, and Watkins as a wide receiver, were all named honorable mention
