By Staff Report.

Clemson is ranked #16 in Baseball America’s 2012 preseason poll, released on Tuesday.  Florida is atop the Baseball America poll, followed by #2 Stanford, #3 South Carolina, #4 Arkansas, and #5 Arizona.  Other ACC teams ranked in the top 25 include #9 North Carolina, #12 Georgia Tech, #18 Miami (FL), and #20 Florida State.

It marks the 24th consecutive season that Clemson has earned a preseason top-25 ranking by one of the three major polls.  In December, Collegiate Baseball ranked the Tigers #25 in its preseason poll.

Clemson had a 43-20 overall record in 2011 and returns 20 lettermen, including All-ACC players Phil Pohl (UT) and Richie Shaffer (3B/1B).  The Tigers will open the 2012 season on February 17 against UAB at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.
