Smith Liked Everything about Clemson

LaChaston Smith, one of the top 2013 linebackers in the Carolinas, visited Clemson on Saturday for Junior Day.

“It was a good trip.  I liked everything.  I liked the new facility and the coaching staff,” said Smith.

Coach Venables sat with LaChaston during the second half of the basketball game.

“He is really experienced.  He knows what he is talking about.  He told me what  he has planned for me,” said Smith.

What did coach Venables tell the prize recruit?

“He told me I could be the best linebacker in the nation and a freshman All-American,” said Smith.

The offer list stands at four, but expect that to change over the next few months.

“I have offers right now from Florida, Virginia, East Carolina and Wake Forest,” said Smith.

Did the Clemson staff say anything about an offer during the visit?

“No, we really didn’t talk about that,” said Smith.

Coach Swinney made a believer out of the top linebacker during the visit.

“He said Clemson has the best team in decades.  I believed him.  He has really made a big impact at Clemson,” said Smith.

When asked about his current favorites, Smith responded, “As a fan yes, but as a recruit no.  As a fan I grew up pulling for Clemson and Florida”.

A few other visits are in the plans.

“I know I am going to visit Florida and East Carolina for sure,” said Smith.

“I really don’t know.  I don’t want to rush into anything.  I want to wait and see how many offers I can get,” said Smith.
