TheClemsonInsider.com caught up with Clemson’s new center fielder Thomas Brittle after the Tigers swept UAB on Saturday.
“It was huge. I had a lackluster day yesterday. I popped a couple of balls up and was a little anxious at the plate. I was really just thinking get a good pitch and get a good swing on it to get something started early,” said Brittle.
The biggest plays of the day may have been the two plays where Brittle threw out a runner at home and another at third.
“I take a lot of pride in my defense. On the base hit I just tried to come home as quick as I could and use my momentum to get it to the plate. On the other one I knew they didn’t have another runner on so I could air it out a little bit and not worry about the cutoff guy so I just gave it everything I have to get it over there,” said Brittle.
How much better did Saturday feel than Friday night?
“It is day and night, no doubt. Last night was rough. You always want to get out here with a full house and give them something to look forward to for the rest of the year. It was tough to disappoint them on the first night so we just came out today and tried to get them back behind us and get two W’s today,” said Brittle.
How did it feel to play your first series as a Tiger in Doug Kingsmore?
“It was awesome. It was a dream come true. I have always grown up wanting to be here. I am just trying to take it all in one game at a a time,” said Brittle.
