Maine jumped out to an early 4-0 lead Saturday afternoon, but the Tigers came storming back for a 9-5 victory.
Richie Shaffer went 3-5 with one RBI on the afternoon. Spencer Kieboom and Phil Pohl both hit homeruns as the Tigers put up nine runs on nine hits.
Dominic Leone got the start and was cruising along with no hits going into the third. Maine had five singles in the fourth as they jumped to a 4-0 lead.
Leone went five innings for the Tigers and picked up the win. Dominic gave up six hits and four earned runs with six strikeouts and three walks.
Clemson responded in the bottom of the third. With one out Thomas Brittle walked. Steve Wilkerson singled to left advancing Brittle to third. Brittle scored on a wild pitch. Phil Pohl walked and then Richie Shaffer singled to left scoring Wilkerson. Spencer Kieboom hit into a double play to end the inning. After three Maine led 4-2.
The Tigers plated five runs in the fifth to take their first lead of the series. Dominic Attanasio singled to third to start things off for Clemson. Thomas Brittle followed with a triple to right center. Steve Wilkerson singled to score Brittle. Phil Pohl was hit by a pitch advancing Wilkerson to second. Spencer Kieboom hit a three run homerun to left field to put the Tigers up 7-4.
Clemson added some insurance in the bottom of the sixth. Dominic Attanasio walked to start the inning. With two outs Phil Pohl hit a two-run homerun to left field to put the Tigers up 9-4.
Maine added a run in the top of the ninth to make the final score 9-5.
Mike Kent pitched well in relief for the Tigers. Kent pitched two inning for the Tigers and only gave up one hit. Patrick Andrews and Clay Bates finished off the Black Bears.
With the win the Tigers moved to 3-2 on the season. Clemson and Maine will play the final game of the series Sunday afternoon at 2 PM.
