Clemson No. 20 in Baseball America

By

DURHAM, N.C—Florida continued its dominance of in-state rival Miami, sweeping then-No. 12 Hurricanes, and remained No. 1 in the Baseball America Top 25 rankings.
With most of the top teams posting winning weeks, there was little movement within the rankings. The top 10 in the rankings all held their ground, with the exception of North Carolina leapfrogging Georgia at No. 8 after the Tar Heels posted a 3-1 week that included a series win against Southern California.

The biggest story of the new rankings comes at No. 25, where Maryland joins the rankings for the first time in the 32-year history of the Top 25. The Terrapins swept a four-game series from Manhattan over the weekend and have also won games against East Carolina and Purdue and won a series at UCLA on their way to a 9-1 start.
Also joining the rankings each for the first time this season are Texas State at No. 21 and Mississippi State at No. 23. The Bobcats defeated then-No. 22 Texas Christian in midweek action and swept Notre Dame over the weekend, with their pitching staff not allowing a single run in the process. The Bulldogs went 4-1 on the week, winning two games apiece against Connecticut and Lipscomb.
Texas, usually a staple of the Top 25, dropped out of the rankings entirely after going 2-2 on the week and starting 4-7 on the season. Fellow Lone Star State squads Texas Christian and Baylor also dropped out.
