Steve Wilkerson played in a big role in the Tiger’s sweep of Boston College over the weekend. Wilkerson went 6-14 on the weekend.
“It was a good weekend for our team as a whole. The pitching staff did their job, throwing strikes and letting the defense work behind them. We executed when we needed to at the plate, but there is still room for improvement. It was just a good weekend overall,” said Wilkerson.
The sweep was just what the Tigers needed after a slow start on the season. Clemson moved to .500 in the ACC with a 3-3 record after the series with Boston College.
“The last week was just tough for everyone. It feels a lot better to come out, at home, and get some wins and get us going again,” said Wilkerson.
The Tiger’s second baseman has found a home as the leadoff batter for the Tigers. Steve is hitting .365 on the season with a .397 on base percentage.
“I am good with hitting wherever Coach wants to put me. This weekend it worked out well in the leadoff spot. Hopefully we can just keep it rolling,” said Wilkerson.
