Athens, GA – TheClemsonInsider.com caught up with Clemson head coach Jack Leggett following the Tiger’s 10-5 victory over Georgia.

On tonight’s overall performance

We talked about having better focus and having the will to win. We’re ready to go now. I think we realized the gravity of the situation and we played hard tonight. We played really well offensively. Everybody played well tonight and we got some two-out hits and two-out RBIs. We scored our run in the top of the 1st, then got down by two, then battled back. Our pitching was pretty good and we played good defense. Once Goose [Gossett] got out of the first inning, he settled in and pitched well.

On tonight’s performance against Georgia pitching

“You never know what can happen in the middle of the week. Our guys tonight had a little better focus and we executed well. We knew we had to come down here and play a really good game to beat them here. They’re a good offensive team, too. If you make mistakes against them, you’re going to pay for it. I’m proud of how our guys bounced back after the weekend and I’m hoping we can maintain the kind of will we had tonight.

On two-out hits

“We hadn’t seen that in awhile. We haven’t seen a lot of two-out hits and two-out RBIs lately, so it was good to get that tonight. It was good to see it and now, hopefully, we can maintain it.

On Richie Shaffer

“He’s always dangerous. He had some big hits for us tonight. The two-run homer was huge and he swung the bat well tonight, overall. We need him in our lineup and producing like that for us to be a factor. If there are a couple of key guys that aren’t clicking, it affects everybody.
