TheClemsonInsider.com caught up with Clemson head coach Jack Leggett following Sunday’s loss to NC State.







On the game today:

We just had that one rough inning today where we gave up four runs. We walked the leadoff guy and against a team like NC State that has so much speed and bunting abilities, you cannot put extra runners on base and have to play excellent defense. We just were not able to build any innings today. We hit too many balls in the air (12 fly ball outs) and that just will not cut it. We have to get better in those areas.

On walking nine NC State batters today:

We walked nine guys today? That will get you every time you even think about it.

On Pohle’s start:

He just did not quite have all his stuff today and just was not as sharp as he has been. He had trouble throwing strikes and working ahead. He just did not look like the same guy out there. I do not know where he was today, but he was not who we are used to seeing. Hopefully we will get that guy back out there next time.

On only having a single midweek game coming up:

We definitely need to have a little bit of a break after four straight five-game weeks. We have to come back and be ready to play on Tuesday and then the guys that go up to Maryland with us have to get ready for a good Terrapin squad.
