Lawson Ready to Contribute

Clemson signee Shaq Lawson made the short trip to Death Valley Saturday to watch the Orange White game and spend time with his future teammates.

“It was a good game.  Both defenses looked good, especially the defensive ends,” said Lawson.

Shaq spent the day talking with two of his future roommates.

“I talked with Chad and Jay Jay the most.  I also talked with some of the other recruits.  I am going to be rooming with Chad and Jay Jay,” said Lawson.

During the spring Shaq made several trips to campus to learn as much as possible.

“I came over four or five times this spring.  I learned some of the plays from watching practice which was good,” said Lawson.

What is the former Daniel standout hearing from the coaches?

“The coaches have been telling me that my name has been coming up in their meetings.  They say they think I can come in and play right away,” said Lawson.

Shaq has put on some weight working hard to be ready to contribute next fall.

“I have been working out Monday to Thursday.  I have been doing the workout plan the coaches gave me.  I have gained about 10 pounds.  I am up to 265 now,” said Lawson.

How does it fell knowing he is only weeks from enrolling at Clemson?

“If feels good.  I am ready to be part of Clemson.  I am ready to workout with the team and try to help the team this year,” said Lawson.
