By caught up with Clemson signee Wales Toney Thursday night after his first round playoff game.

“The season is going great.  We just won our first playoff game tonight at Gaffney.  I threw a one-hitter with one run and eleven strikeouts,” said Toney.

The 6-3, 200 pound right hander has pitched well this season.

“I am 4-4 on the season with a 1.89 ERA.  I have 79 strikeouts in 48 innings with a top velocity of 95,” said Toney.

Wales makes the short trip to Clemson as often as he can to watch the Tigers.

“I have been over to Clemson a good bit this year.  I watched two of the games against NC State.  It is always good to get over there and catch up with the coaches and players,” said Toney.

What is Wales hearing from the Clemson staff?

“They are just telling me to keep working hard so I can be ready for next spring,” replied Toney.

The T.L. Hanna standout has been keeping in touch with a number of his future teammates.

“I keep in touch with Steven Duggar, Lucas Sims, Tyler Krieger and Kevin Bradley.  I have been checking in with everyone to see how their seasons are going and stuff like that,” said Toney.

Wales can’t wait to enroll at Clemson and help the Tigers.

“I am pumped to get on campus and start contributing as soon as possible,” said Toney.
