Clemson, SC – College of Charleston defeated the Tigers 4-2 Monday afternoon at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. It was the first ever victory for the Cougars over Clemson.
Jonathan Meyer got the start for the Tigers. Meyer went 5.1 innings and gave up seven hits, four runs and two earned runs. Scott Firth pitched well going 3.2 innings giving up one hit and no runs.
Clemson scored two runs on six hits. Steve Wilkerson and Phil Pohl both went 2-4 for the Tigers.
College of Charleston took the lead in the first inning when they plated one run.
The Tigers took the lead in the third. With two outs Jason Stolz walked. Steve Wilkerson doubled to score Stolz. Thomas Brittle walked. Richie Shaffer singled to right to score Wilkerson and put the Tigers up 2-0.
The Cougars regained the lead in the top of the fourth when they plated two runs. College of Charleston added an insurance run in the top of the sixth.
Clemson fell to 28-20 with the loss. The Tigers host Tennessee Tech Tuesday afternoon at 2 PM. The game was moved up because of weather concerns.
