North Heading to Clemson

The halls of Mallard Creek have been filled with college coaches the past few weeks.  Clemson is one of many schools to stop by and check on Marquez North, one of the top receivers in the nation.

“A lot of coaches have come by the school.  Oklahoma, Ohio State, Clemson, Notre Dame, Miami, NC State, LSU and Auburn have come by,” said North.

Two Clemson coaches made the visit to Charlotte to check on Marquez.

“Coach Morris and coach Pearman came by for Clemson.  I talk with coach Pearman a lot.  We just talk about stuff and he wants to know when I will be down to visit,” said North.

Coach Pearman will get his wish soon as a visit to Clemson is already planned.

“My dad said we would go down in late May so I will be down in the next week or two,” said North.

Marquez is showing his speed this spring for Mallard Creek.

“I am doing track right now.  We had the regionals yesterday in Boone.  This week is the state.  I am running the 200.  My best time is 21.8,” said North.

Has the top receiver been on any visits the past few weeks?

“I haven’t been on any visits because of track,” replied North.

When asked about his favorites, North responded, “I really don’t have any anymore because I haven’t really been on any visits”.

Don’t expect an early decision from the prize recruit.

“I think it will be a late decision,” said North.
