TCI Hitter-of-the Week                    #8 Richie Shaffer

The junior from Charlotte, NC earned his fifth TCI Hitter-of-the-Week award after going 4-for-11 (.364) in the series at Wake Forest. Shaffer had two doubles, two RBI, and a walk while not committing an error in eight chances.

TCI Pitcher-of-the-Week                 #23 Daniel Gossett

The freshman from Lyman, SC earned his third TCI Pitcher-of-the-Week honor with a solid start against Wake Forest on Saturday. Making his first career ACC start, Gossett took a tough loss despite allowing just two runs (both earned) on six hits and two walks against seven strikeouts in 7.1 innings.

Weekend Notes:

Clemson went 0-3 this past weekend, being swept at Wake Forest. On the weekend, the Deacons outscored the Tigers 14-3 with Clemson hitting .176 with a .220 slugging percentage and .255 on-base percentage. The Tigers totaled four doubles, eight walks, two hit-by-pitches, and four stolen bases in the series. Clemson’s pitching staff had a 4.50 ERA, allowing 20 hits (.230 opponents’ batting average) and 10 walks against 20 strikeouts in 24.0 innings. The Tigers also had a .980 fielding percentage, committing two errors in 98 chances.
