Shaq Lawson could provide depth on the defensive line this season.  The Clemson staff is making sure he works hard as he prepares to start his Clemson career.

“The coaches just tell me to work hard and be ready to play when I come in.  Coach Hobby wants me to be ready to play,” said Lawson.

Does the depth chart provide extra motivation?

“I have seen the depth chart.  I know if I work hard I can come in and help the team,” replied Lawson.

Shaq is finishing up a summer class that he needs to get his GPA up for qualification.

“Right now I am taking a summer class so I can help my GPA.  I have to get an A.  Right now I have a 97 average so I am in good shape.  I will be done with the class in a couple of weeks,” said Lawson.

The former Daniel standout plans to enroll later this month.

“I am going to enroll on June 24,” said Lawson.

Shaq has been spending some time with Chad Kelly who is already on campus working out with the team.

“I hung out with Chad some last night.  We might be roommates.  He says the workouts are hard and that you have to be ready to work,” said Lawson.

Several other future teammates are already like brothers.

“I talk with Josh, Jay Jay and Martin all the time.  We text each other every day.  We talk about the workouts.  We are already like brothers,” said Lawson.
