TheClemsonInsider.com caught up with the newest Clemson commitment to get the latest on his camp visit and his commitment to the Tigers. Maverick Morris’ one day camp visit to Clemson on Friday changed his life.
“I went to camp on Friday. They said they would be looking at me at camp. After camp coach Morris asked me if I wanted to go with him up to school. We stopped in front of the weight room and he told me he was offering me,” said Morris.
The offer came as a surprise to the top lineman.
“I was kind of caught off guard. I wasn’t expecting an offer,” said Morris.
The minute Maverick got the offer from coach Morris he knew he was going to be a Tiger, but he had to tell some others first.
“As soon as they told me I knew I was going to commit. Clemson was my number one choice, but I wanted to go home and tell mom and dad first. I didn’t want to do something like that without talking to them first,” said Morris.
“I went to my high school coach and talked with him. He called coach Caldwell and I talked with him and coach Pearman. They gave me Dabo’s number and I gave him a call. He was excited,” said Morris.
Coach Caldwell impressed Maverick at camp.
“I thought he was a real good coach from the time I got to spend with him,” said Morris.
What type of lineman is Maverick?
“I can do it all. I can run block, pass block or pull,” replied Morris.
How does it feel to get the decision over?
“It feels great. I am glad it is over,” replied Morris.
The Georgia standout doesn’t plan any more visits.
“I am firm. I am going to Clemson,” said Morris.
