By caught up with Kevin Brady to get the latest on the draft, reflections on his time at Clemson and much more.

Kevin was selected in the 10th round of the MLB draft by the Philadelphia Phillies.

“It was a long day.  I was sitting around my apartment waiting.  I couldn’t get it off my mind.  I was waiting for my phone to ring.  Every time someone would call I would wonder if that was the call.  It was nerve racking,” said Brady,

One word summed up the feeling when the call finally came.

“Relieved,” said Brady.

How does Kevin think the Phillies will use him?

“I think they will probably use me as a starter.  I am currently down in Clearwater working out.  Then I am going to Williamsburg for the short season A team,” said Brady.

The Tiger great knows his play on the field will determine how quickly he moves up for the Phillies.

“I just have to keep working hard every day.  I just have to do my job every day and let them move me up on my own.  I am new to pro ball so I just have to do my job when I get the ball,” said Brady.

After being one game from the championship series just two years ago it is hard for Kevin to watch the College World Series.

“I honestly can’t watch it.  It’s not the same stadium.  It is still hard to think about 2012.  It still feels like yesterday we were there and 2-0 at this time.  I turn it on but I really don’t watch it,” said Brady.

Kevin never really considered returning to Clemson for another year.

“I was just ready to go play pro ball.  I enjoyed all four years at Clemson.  The coaching staff was very supportive.  I would never trade those four years for anything.  It was the best decision I made to come back for my senior year,” said Brady.

The Clemson program will be back among the best in the nation according to the former Tiger.

“There are a lot of good underclassmen coming up and I think a lot of the freshmen and sophomores will step it up.  It will be another good year.  That is how Clemson is.  You lose guys and you fill the need with quality freshmen.  I think it will be another great team.  Coach Leggett, coach Pep, coach LeCroy and MJ have the same expectation,” said Brady.
