Jackson High defensive tackle Jay Woods will travel to Clemson on Thursday for an unofficial visit.
“Yes sir, I am coming on Thursday. I am just going up for the day. My mom, my best friend and one of my teammates will be coming with me,” Woods told TheClemsonInsider.com.
What does the Georgia standout hope to see during the visit?
“I want to see it all again. I want to check out Death Valley again. I want to see the academic side this time. Last time I really didn’t get to see that,” replied Woods.
Checking out Vickery Hall is also high on his mother’s wish list.
“It will be here first visit to Clemson. She wants to see the academics as well,” said Woods.
Jay has over 25 offers including many of the top programs in the nation. The prize recruit doesn’t have any leaders, but has narrowed the field to eleven teams. Clemson, Georgia and South Carolina are among the top eleven.
Jay hopes to have a top five in the next month or two.
“I am thinking of trimming it to five by the end of summer. Then I will take my official visit during the season and after the season,” said Woods.
The top defender plans to take his officials before making a decision.
“It will be late December or early next year,” said Woods.
What will be important when Jay selects his college destination?
“The No. 1 thing will be education. Education is my No. 1 priority. No. 2 will be the relationship with the coaches. No. 3 will be if I can get on the field early,” replied Woods.
