Swinney Cuts Practice Short

By Staff Report.

Clemson, SC—Clemson Head Coach Dabo Swinney called his team together after the normal pre-practice walk-through and flex segments and addressed the team.

“We have already had a full spring practice and enough meetings for two spring practices,” said Swinney.  “So after we lock up, you are going to sprint to the tram (vehicle that takes the team from practice field to West Endzone),  shower, have dinner and then go home.”

He also told his assistant coaches and staff members to go see their sons at their respective football practices on Thursday night.   Those that don’t have sons he told to go spend time with their family.

At that point there was quite a bit of excitement among the Clemson players, who have had 14 practices in 14 days since opening practice on Friday, August 4.   The Clemson head coach wants his team to recharge its batteries mentally and physically as they start the second half of the preseason drills.    The Tigers open on September 1 in the Georgia Dome against 25th ranked Auburn.

“I expect us to have a great physical practice on Friday morning, so come ready to go,” he told the team.

With that the team had a final lock up and cheer and sprinted to the awaiting transportation.
