Clemson Ball State History

Clemson and Ball State have met every ten years.  The first game was in 1992.  The Tigers defeated Ball State 24-10 in 1992 to open the season.  Clemson came into that game ranked No. 13 in the nation and  were coming off an ACC Championship.

In 2002 Clemson defeated Ball State 30-7.  Ball State scored the first touchdown before the Tigers went on a 30-0 run.

Clemson is 3-0 all-time against the Mid American Conference.  The Tigers are 2-0 against Ball State and 1-0 against Central Michigan.

Fast Pace 

Clemson and Ball State both run a high tempo offense.  Last week Ball State ran 96 plays for 596 yards in their victory over Eastern Michigan.

In Clemson’s victory over Auburn the Tigers ran 87 plays for 528 yards.

Catanzaro Chasing Record

Chandler Catanzaro was 4-4 on field goals in the win over Auburn.  Over two seasons Catanzaro has now hit 12 straight field goals.  If Catanzaro can hit his next three in a row he will set the all-time record at Clemson for making consecutive field goals.  Obed Ariri set the record for the Tigers in the 1980 season.

Home Winning Streak

Clemson has won seven straight games in Death Valley.  The Tigers did not lose a home game in 2011 on their way to the ACC Championship.

Most Offensive Snaps in Week One

Last season Clemson finished second in the nation in offensive snaps.  Last week Ball State was second in the nation with 96 snaps.  Clemson was 13th in the nation with 87 in week one.

Ellington with Career Day

Andre Ellington had a career high 228 rushing yards last week as Clemson defeated Auburn.  That was the record for a Clemson season opener that had stood since 1952 when Buck George had 204 against Presbyterian.

Hopkins Sets Clemson Record

DeAndre Hopkins set a single game Clemson record with 13 catches last week against Auburn.  The previous record of twelve was set by Airesse Currie in 2003 against Middle Tennessee State.
