Clemson and Ball State have met every ten years. The first game was in 1992. The Tigers defeated Ball State 24-10 in 1992 to open the season. Clemson came into that game ranked No. 13 in the nation and were coming off an ACC Championship.
In 2002 Clemson defeated Ball State 30-7. Ball State scored the first touchdown before the Tigers went on a 30-0 run.

Andre Ellington had a career high 228 rushing yards last week as Clemson defeated Auburn. That was the record for a Clemson season opener that had stood since 1952 when Buck George had 204 against Presbyterian.

DeAndre Hopkins set a single game Clemson record with 13 catches last week against Auburn. The previous record of twelve was set by Airesse Currie in 2003 against Middle Tennessee State.
