Clemson head coach Jack Leggett got some good news when 2016 RHP Sawyer Bridge committed to the Tigers.
“I went on a visit to Clemson. I had talked with coach LeCroy last week and we set a visit for this week. I met with coach Pepicelli and talked with him. Then I went in and talked to coach Leggett. I decided Clemson is where I want to go so I went ahead and committed,” said Bridges.
What was coach Leggett’s reaction?
“He was real excited. He jumped out of his seat. He is a lot of fun,” replied Bridges.
The family came with Sawyer on the visit along with another friend Zack Bailey who is being recruited by Clemson for football.
“I came with my mom, my dad and one of my friends Zack Bailey,” said Bridges.
Why did the rising sophomore decide to go ahead and commit to the Tigers?
“It was mainly just the coaches. They were awesome. They are the most caring people. I just loved it. I loved the atmosphere. I went to a couple of games last year. I also really like the campus,” replied Bridges.
Sawyer had an outstanding freshman season.
“I went 5-1 with a 1.13 ERA. I had a 24 innings where I had 28 or 30 strikeouts,” said Bridges.
The Summerville standout is already doing some recruiting for Clemson, but not for baseball.
“I have already started recruiting Zack,” said Bridges.
