Football season is officially underway for the Tigers as they prepare for what many hope will be one of the best seasons ever at Clemson.  As the season progresses some players will make a move and demand more playing time based on their performance on the field.  Others will take a step back.

In this new TCI feature each Sunday we will look at the players moving up and those that are moving down.  Which players are elevating their game and their position on the depth chart?

Martin Jenkins – Martin had to fight off some injuries early in camp but has come on strong the past few weeks.  Jenkins has come on so strong that he could earn a starting spot opposite Bashaud Breeland at corner.  Getting Jenkins back this season is a big lift for the secondary.

Korrin Wiggins – Korrin Wiggins wasn’t the most highly rated 2013 defensive back for the Tigers, but he will have the biggest impact when Georgia visits Death Valley.  After a great camp Wiggins will see significant playing time at Nickel against the Dawgs.

Ryan Norton – Ryan Norton had a good battle on his hands during camp with redshirt freshman Jay Guillermo.  Norton won the first round of the battle and earned the start against Georgia.  This battle may not be over, but for now Norton will get the start.

TJ Green – TJ was injured early in camp and many thought that he might be looking at a redshirt with Williams play so well.  Not so fast.  Green came on strong late in camp and gives the Tigers another great athlete at receiver.  Coach Swinney said TJ had earned the right to play in 2013.

Marcus Edmond – One of the surprises this month has been the play of Marcus Edmond.  With a class full of 4-star and 5-star DB’s many figured Marcus was headed for a redshirt.  Coach Swinney said this week that Marcus is under consideration for playing time because he has played so well in camp.

Joe Gore – Last week Gore has a scope done on his knee.  The injury is a concern going forward for Joe.  They have fitted him  with a special brace to see if that will help.  Gore was expected to see more playing time this season at tackle on the two-deep.  We will have to see how the injury impacts his playing time going forward.

DJ Howard– Injuries have once against been an issue for DJ Howard.  Last week DJ had a scope on his ankle.  He is expected to make a quick recovery, but the timing will hurt his playing time early.  If McDowell and Brooks play well early it may be hard for Howard to earn playing time.
