Four-star recruit Donte Grantham (Hargrave Military Academy) committed to play basketball at Clemson University on Friday morning. The West Virginia native announced his decision on his Twitter feed, and it was confirmed by his high school coach.
Grantham chose the Tigers over an offer from Michigan. He also received interest from other high-major programs, including West Virginia. The Mountaineers had an offer out to Grantham at one point.
He reclassified to the 2014 class in an effort to receive more offers, as interest in him picked up significantly throughout the past year. Clemson’s staff offered Grantham before anyone else, and the persistence of Brad Brownell and his staff paid off in the end with a commitment that many on the national scene .
Grantham is considered a top 100 prospect by most recruiting services. He is widely regarded as a player that could play either small forward or power forward in college, but his frame (6’8″, 200 lbs) and long arms make him a better candidate for immediate impact on the wing.
