TCI National Power Rankings

Today we continue our new feature for TCI where each week we will give our top ten national power rankings.

These ranking are based on who we believe are the top ten teams in the nation right now.   Who are this week’s top ten in the TCI National Power Rankings?

1. Florida State

The Noles are playing like the nation’s top team right now.  They dismantle with ease every opponent.  Alabama struggled to defeat Mississippi State this week.  If the BCS Championship was played today the SEC streak would be over and Florida State would be the National Champs.

2. Alabama

Alabama’s struggled to defeat Mississippi State this weekend but still are one of the top two  teams in the nation.  We will learn more about the Tide when they travel to Auburn, but Alabama should find their way back to the BCS Championship.

3. Baylor

Baylor got an early scare from Texas Tech, but went on to dominate late in a 63-34 rout.  Baylor has played the tougher schedule so they will remain ahead of Ohio State unless they fall.  Next week Baylor travels to Oklahoma State for their toughest test of the year.

4. Ohio State

Ohio State struggled this week to put away hapless Illinois giving up 35 points.  The Buckeyes continue to roll through the competition on the schedule.  We will find out more where they belong in the rankings when they battle Michigan State in the Title game.

5. Oregon

Just a week after falling to Stanford the Ducks are back in the top five.  It was a close call between Oregon and Clemson for the No. 5 ranking this week, but we will give the slight edge to the Ducks since their loss to Stanford was only by six points on the road.

6. Clemson

Clemson destroyed Georgia Tech Thursday night.  With the Tigers only loss coming to the nation’s top ten and with a victory over a much better Georgia team that started the season Clemson deserves to be ranked ahead of one loss Auburn and Missouri teams.

7. Missouri

Missouri deserves to be the top ranked one loss SEC team with their only loss coming in overtime to South Carolina when the played without their starting quarterback.  The Tigers now have to defeat Ole Miss on the road and Texas A&M at home to win the SEC East.  We will find out a lot more about Missouri in the next two weeks.

8. Auburn

Auburn played well against Georgia, but fell apart in the fourth quarter.  If not for a miracle play in the final minute Auburn fans would have been talking about the fourth quarter choke.  Make no mistake the Georgia team they defeated at the end with a miracle is a shell of the team Clemson easily defeated to start the season.  Auburn will get a shot to move up when the play Alabama in a couple of weeks.

9. Oklahoma State

Oklahoma State whipped Texas on the road this weekend.  Next week we find out who the best team in the conference is when Baylor visits Oklahoma State.  A trip to the Fiesta Bowl will be on the line most likely.

10. South Carolina

South Carolina struggled to defeat a mediocre Florida team Saturday night, but got the victory.  Stanford, South Carolina and Texas A&M  all have an argument for this final spot in the TCI National Power rankings.  Over the next few weeks we should have more clarity.
