Clemson opened the season with a series win over Eastern Michigan in Doug Kingsmore Stadium.  We take a look back at the first week of the season.

TCI Hitter-of-the Week              #3 Tyler Krieger

The sophomore shortstop from John’s Creek, GA went 5-for-11 (.455) in three games last week for Clemson. Krieger had a double, walk, four runs, and 2 RBI on opening weekend.

The sophomore from Duluth, GA started his season strong on Saturday with a solid outing out of the bullpen. In 4.0 innings of relief, Erwin allowed 1 run (unearned) on three hits (.200 OBA) with four strikeouts to earn his first save of the season.

Weekend Notes:

Clemson took two of three games from Eastern Michigan at Doug Kingsmore Stadium to open the 2014 season. The Tigers outscored the Eagles 19-16 despite being outhit 30 (.275) to 29 (.284). On the weekend, Clemson had six doubles, a triple, a homer, and 14 walks against 17 strikeouts while going 10-13 on stolen bases. The Tiger pitching staff finished the weekend with a 3.86 ERA, allowing 16 runs (12 earned) in 28.0 innings with four walks against 27 strikeouts. Clemson also fielded at a .977 clip, committing three errors in 127 chances.

 

Leggett Moving Up The All-Time Wins Lists

As TCI has followed over the past several seasons, Clemson Head Coach Jack Leggett has been moving up the All-Times Wins List by a Division I Head Coach. Last season, Leggett moved into 11th place on the all-time wins list with a 9-5 win over Maryland on May 6, 2013. Earlier in the year, Leggett also record his 875th win at Clemson with a 12-1 win over former school Western Carolina on April 24, 2013.
