On Friday, Dabo Swinney offered Miami cornerback pledge Mike Jackson, a senior from Spain Park High School in Birmingham, Alabama.
Jackson spoke to TheClemsonInsider on Sunday night.
“It means a lot to pretty much get an offer from your dream school, the school you’ve been dreaming about since you were a kid,” he said.
A four-star cornerback, according to Rivals, Jackson has been to every Clemson summer camp since Swinney took over on a full-time basis. Swinney informed Jackson that Clemson was joining his list of offers, which also includes Cincinnati, Minnesota, Marshall and Memphis.
“Coach Swinney called me and just asked if I was interested in Clemson,” Jackson said. “I was like, ‘Yes sir.’ He was like, ‘That’s good. I’m offering you a scholarship and we’re going to set up a date for you to come on an official visit.’”
That was the first contact Jackson had with anyone from Clemson since he was on campus in June for camp.
Jackson committed to Miami two days before Halloween.
“It just felt like home. I love the coaching staff and I already have family down there,” he said.
Though Williams is still committed to Miami, Clemson is very much in the picture.
“I’ll just visit (Clemson) and go from there,” he said.
As a senior, Williams had 30 tackles, two interceptions, 10 pass breakups and three forced fumbles.
