The contact period is over and it’s getting down to brass tax for several of Clemson’s 2016 recruiting targets.

Five-star Dexter Lawrence, who’s the No. 2 overall prospect in the country, according to Rivals, will announce his decision on Monday afternoon at 3:30.

Clemson, NC State, Florida, Alabama and Ohio State all received official visits, the most recent of which was this past weekend to Raleigh.

Because multiple sources have indicated that good news for the Tigers could be on the way, Monday afternoon’s announcement at Wake Forest High School will be covered by TCI.

A Monday announcement from Conway athlete Bryan Edwards is also in the works.

The former South Carolina commitment took his official visit to Columbia over the weekend. TCI has confirmed reports that Edwards is expected to make a decision at some point on Monday. Clemson and South Carolina are the finalists.

Edwards, a four-star, is being recruited to Clemson as a safety. South Carolina’s new staff still sees him as a wide receiver. Family connections and long-standing ties are to Clemson, but Edwards prefers wide receiver over safety.

There’s no word on the details of his announcement or how it will be made.

Clemson also hosted a once-committed prospect for an official visit this weekend. Five-star linebacker Rahshaun ‘Shaq’ Smith was joined on campus by his mother.

Sources indicated that the visit went well. It certainly helps that mom was along for the trip. If her tweets are an indication, Clemson is the school she prefers.

LSU, Maryland, Auburn and Oregon also hosted Smith for official visits.
