IMG Academy 2018 four-star wide receiver Brian Hightower visited Clemson on July 13 with teammate and four-star running back Jamal Elliott.
The Clemson Insider recently caught up with Hightower, who said he had a good time in Tiger Town.
“It was really good,” Hightower said. “They showed me a very good time, made me feel at home.”
While on campus, Hightower talked to co-offensive coordinators Jeff Scott and Tony Elliott the most.
From the conversations, he was able to gain an understanding of how he would fit into Clemson’s offense.
“I got to know how I would fit in there,” Hightower said. “What I would play, how I would play it, what position and the way they run their offensive scheme.”
Hightower feels he could form a strong relationship with Scott.
“Yes, definitely, because coach Scott has put out many really good receivers,” Hightower said.
What did Scott and Hightower discuss?
“That I would be playing the 9 position, how I would fit in their scheme and just that I’m one of the top players on his board and things like that,” Hightower said. “He was just talking to me, and I was getting to know him better.”
Hightower said Clemson’s tradition at wide receiver is certainly a factor when he considers the school.
“I want to go somewhere where I know they put out really good receivers,” Hightower said, “and I want to go somewhere where I’m going to be my best at that position and know that that coach knows what he’s doing.”
This summer, Hightower has also visited UCLA, Southern Cal and Miami.
Now, he’s turning his attention to the junior season ahead of him.
“I’m really excited for the season,” Hightower said. “We have a great team at IMG, and with the family and the brotherhood that we’ve built so far, it’s going to be a great season.”
Hightower does not have a solidified list of leaders right now.
“Not really,” Hightower said when asked if he has any favorite schools. “But I have some schools that I’ll really be looking at. I’m starting to narrow down my list to a top 10, but I’m still focusing on that right now.”
Hightower plans to visit Clemson during the season, but he’s not sure exactly when that will be.
The 6-foot-3, 195-pounder is rated by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 11 player in Florida, the nation’s No. 4 receiver and the nation’s No. 41 player overall.
