Linebacker Mike Jones, Clemson’s first commitment in the 2018 class, has been working to recruit several of his talented teammates at IMG Academy.

One teammate of Jones who has heard a lot about Clemson from him is four-star defensive tackle T.K. Chimedza.

“I’ve heard a lot of positive things about them,” Chimedza said during a recent interview with The Clemson Insider. “I would love an offer from them and would like to get to know the coaches.”

Chimedza said he and Jones have discussed the possibility of visiting Clemson together at some point.

“I’ve talked to him about visiting with him,” Chimedza said, “but I haven’t made a visit there so far.”

Chimedza, who is also in the class of 2018, currently has offers from Duke, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Missouri and Wake Forest.

Which of those schools are recruiting Chimedza the hardest right now?

“UGA, FSU and Georgia Tech,” Chimedza said.

The 6-foot-3, 270-pounder doesn’t have any leaders at this time.

“No, not at the moment,” he said.

Chimedza and IMG earned a marquee victory in the school’s season opener at Grayson (Ga.) High School on Saturday.

“It was a good game overall. As a team, we played great,” Chimedza said of the 26-7 win. “The defense was shut down. I could have played better and made more plays, but I had a good game.”

The contest was nationally televised by ESPN2, but Chimedza’s mindset stayed status quo.

“It was pretty cool,” Chimedza said, “but I treated it like any other game.”

Looking ahead, Chimedza said a few things will be important to him when he makes a commitment decision in the future.

“Good education program, good relationship with coaches and how my family feels about it,” Chimedza said.

Chimedza is rated by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 29 player in Florida, the nation’s No. 12 defensive tackle and the nation’s No. 137 player overall in the 2018 class.
