Recruit Reaction: Clemson-Louisville

Many recruits and commits were in attendance for third-ranked Clemson’s thrilling 42-36 victory over No. 4 Louisville on Saturday night.

After the game, The Clemson Insider reached out to a number of the prospects for their reactions to it. Check out what some of Clemson’s commits and targets had to say about the Tigers’ win:

Xavier Thomas, DE, Florence (S.C.) Wilson:

“Really enjoyed. Best college game I have ever been to! Nobody expected Clemson to win and they pulled through.”

Chase Brice, QB, Loganville (Ga.) Grayson – commit:

“All I can say is that we had the recruit section rocking! It was an unbelievable game and atmosphere. Clemson played a great game overall. Yes, they had mistakes and busts, but at the end of the day they found a way to win! It was amazing.”

Hunter Johnson, QB, Brownsburg (Ind.) Brownsburg High – commit:

“The game last night was outstanding. Seeing the amount of people who showed up to the game was awesome to see. The crowd definitely played a big role in the game last night. And then just seeing how the team was able to respond to all of the adversity that they faced says a lot about this team and what they are going to be able to accomplish this season.”

A.J. Terrell, CB, Atlanta (Ga.) Westlake – commit:

“Louisville never gave up the whole game and neither did Clemson. Clemson just put up more points than Louisville did. They took Lamar Jackson out of his comfort zone for the first half and it really helped the Tigers be victorious.”

Zacch Pickens, DE, Anderson (S.C.) T.L. Hanna:

“The defense played the best game of their life and the offense stepped up when they needed to.”

James Mitchell, TE, Big Stone Gap (Va.) Union:

“It was probably one of the most exciting games I’ve seen.”

Amari Rodgers, WR, Knoxville (Tenn.) Knoxville Catholic – commit:

“Last night was probably the best game I’ve been a part of, and being a commit made it 10 times better! The crowd was so loud, and everybody’s energy was just turned up! I never doubted we would lose this game.”

Owen Pappoe, LB, Loganville (Ga.) Grayson:

“It was crazy!”

Zovon Lindsay, DE, Fayetteville (N.C.) Trinity Christian:

“It was amazing. The atmosphere was something special and I definitely want to come back.”

Elijiah Brown, DT, Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day:

“I was ecstatic. One of the best games I’ve been to in a while.”

Jordan Williams, DE, Virginia Beach (Va.) Frank W. Cox – commit:

“It was a huge win! I’m just glad they were able to stop them defensively and the offense was able to hit on all cylinders.”

Tee Higgins, WR, Oak Ridge (Tenn.) Oak Ridge High – commit:

“Crazy win! It’s hard to win with five turnovers, but they kept fighting and finished the game strong.”

Jake Venables, LB, Central (S.C.) Daniel:

“Oh it was crazy! Insane! I was jumping around the whole game. I wanted to be out there hitting Lamar Jackson myself. Great game!”

Devyn Ford, RB, Stafford (Va.) North Stafford:

“I was excited. I was happy they won and got the stop.”
