Recruits react to Clemson's College Football Playoff ranking

The first College Football Playoff rankings were released on Tuesday night, and Clemson opened up at No. 2 with Alabama at No. 1, Michigan at No. 3 and Texas A&M at No. 4.

After the rankings were unveiled on ESPN, The Clemson Insider reached out to some of Clemson’s commits and recruits for their reactions to where the Tigers stand:

Chase Brice, QB, Loganville, Ga. – Grayson – commit:

“I think it’s great that they got moved to No. 2! I’m sure it really doesn’t matter where they end up as long as they are in the top four! But they just have to keep proving each week they’re still legit and ready to win the national championship!”

Matt Bockhorst, OL, Cincinnati, Ohio – St. Xavier – commit:

“That is where they deserve to be. Nobody else has a better resume than them when it comes to strength of schedule, but they still haven’t put all the pieces together and that is why ‘Bama should be No. 1.”

Noah DeHond, OL, Hightstown, N.J. – Peddie – commit:

“They earned it.”

Tee Higgins, WR, Oak Ridge, Tenn. – Oak Ridge – commit:

“That’s good! They’ve been working their tails off but can’t let it get to their heads.”

Amari Rodgers, WR, Knoxville, Tenn. – Knoxville Catholic – commit:

“That’s huge! Looking forward to how the rest of the season turns out. They deserve the best.”

Mike Jones, LB, Bradenton, Fla. – IMG Academy – commit:

“It’s great to see us up at the top. I can’t wait for the playoffs.”

Jordan Williams, DE, Virginia Beach, Va. – Cox – commit:

“It’s huge. I hope it silences some of those critics who think Clemson just had a ‘lucky year’.”

A.J. Terrell, CB, Atlanta, Ga. – Westlake – commit:

“We went up a spot, but we still have more work to do to be on top.”

Baylon Spector, LB, Calhoun, Ga. (Calhoun) – commit:

“Love it, how can you not. All we got to do is win each game at a time and we will give ourselves a chance.”

Zacch Pickens, DE, Anderson, S.C. – T.L. Hanna:

“They worked as a team to get there.”

Mikel Jones, LB, Hialeah, Fla. – Mater Academy:

“I think it’s really good for them. I expected them to be in the top three playoff ranking, but I think they have the team and defense to take them all the way again and win this year.”

Jake Venables, LB, Central, S.C. – Daniel:

“They belong at the top! They don’t get enough respect for their wins.”
