Nine Tigers named AP First-Team All-ACC

By

Nine Clemson players were named to the Associated Press All-ACC First Team on Wednesday. In all, 15 Clemson players, more than any other ACC team, were named to the three ACC teams the Associated Press released on Wednesday.

Wide receiver Mike Williams, tight end Jordan Leggett, center Jay Guillermo, right guard Tryone Crowder and left tackle Mitch Hyatt all earned first-team offense honors. Linebacker Ben Boulware, safety Jadar Johnson, defensive tackle Carlos Watkins and cornerback Cordrea Tankersley were named to the first-team defense.

Quarterback Deshaun Watson and running back Wayne Gallman were both named to the second-team offense, along with kicker Greg Huegel.

Defensive end Christian Wilkins and defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence were named to the second-team defense. Wide receiver Artavis Scott was named to the All-ACC Third Team.

It’s no surprise the Tigers (12-1) have so many selections. Clemson just wrapped up its second straight ACC Championship last Saturday with a win over Virginia Tech in the ACC Championship Game.

The Tigers, No. 2 in the College Football Playoff Committee’s rankings, will play No. 3 Ohio State in the College Football Playoff semifinals at the Fiesta Bowl on New Year’s Eve.
