Along with visits to South Carolina and Tennessee this season, Anderson (S.C.) T.L. Hanna four-star defensive end Zacch Pickens made a trio of trips to Clemson.
After attending Clemson’s season-opener against Troy in September and the marquee matchup against Louisville in October, Pickens made it back on campus for the rivalry game against South Carolina on Nov. 26.
The Clemson Insider caught up with Pickens, one of the best prospects in the 2019 class, about his latest experience in Death Valley.
Pickens said he enjoyed the visit and a couple parts stood out.
“Seeing the coaches,” Pickens said, “and going to the game to watch them play.”
What did Pickens, who has offers from both Clemson and South Carolina, think of the Tigers’ 49-point victory over the Gamecocks?
“I don’t know what to say about that,” Pickens said, laughing.
In addition to Clemson and South Carolina, Pickens also possesses offers from Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, Nebraska, North Carolina, Penn State, Tennessee and Virginia Tech among others.
The 6-foot-4, 240-pounder said he is hearing a lot from many of the aforementioned schools.
“Mostly all of them,” Pickens responded when asked which schools he is hearing from the most.
What does Pickens like about Clemson?
“How they work together as a team,” he said.
Pickens, who also plays basketball at T.L. Hanna, liked catching up with defensive ends coach Marion Hobby about his season on the hardwood.
As for his season on the gridiron, Pickens said it went well.
“Good,” Pickens said. “I did great.”
Pickens said he doesn’t have any leaders at this time. He plans to make a decision his senior year.
