After getting a scholarship offer from South Carolina during his Junior Day visit to the school on Saturday, Charlotte (N.C.) Harding 2018 offensive guard Jovaughn Gwyn will head to Clemson for a Junior Day visit this coming weekend.
The 6-foot-3, 290-pounder with a handful of Power Five scholarship offers and other programs expressing interest is excited to see Clemson again.
“I just want to see more of their campus and see how they practice and get down to business and get a little taste of what makes them who they are,” Gwyn told The Clemson Insider. “And to see their education part of things more than anything.”
Gwyn experienced Clemson for the first time last October when the Tigers played Louisville.
“I liked it a lot,” he said. “The fans are great and the coaches are too.”
Along with South Carolina, Gwyn holds offers from Duke, Georgia Tech, N.C. State and Wake Forest. Duke pulled the trigger last month.
Clemson and Virginia Tech are also showing significant interest, with the Tigers still evaluating him for a potential offer.
An offer from Clemson would be big for him, he said.
“It would mean a lot,” Gwyn said. “I wouldn’t know what to say or think.”
What does Gwyn have to offer as an offensive lineman?
“I play hard and physical and I just like to get at it and work,” he said. “I don’t like to give up or ever say I can’t do something or hear my teammates say they can’t do something. I like to push others around me.”
Gwyn said he is hearing the most from N.C. State and Wake Forest. He plans to visit Duke soon.
He will be accompanied on the Clemson visit by teammate Quavaris Crouch, a 2019 running back with offers from Georgia, Michigan, Nebraska, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
