Clemson 2018 commit Mike Jones visited Clemson for the second time this year on March 4 after attending the Tigers’ elite junior day in January.

The Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy four-star linebacker made the trip with a tour group of his teammates.

“It was great getting a chance to get back up,” Jones told TCI.

Jones and his teammates toured the facilities and tried on Clemson uniforms during a photo shoot as they spent time with members of the coaching staff.

What did Jones hear from the coaches?

“Not much, basically that they were glad that everybody got to come up and to keep recruiting my teammates hard,” he said.

Several of the Tigers’ top targets joined Jones on the bus to Clemson, including five-star defensive end Xavier Thomas, four-star defensive end Stephon Wynn and five-star defensive tackle Taron Vincent.

“All the guys had a great time,” Jones said.

Thomas, who also attended Clemson’s January junior day, tweeted in February that he plans to announce a commitment decision on Dec. 20, his birthday.

The nation’s No. 2 2018 prospect said in December, of course, that he will return home to South Carolina to play college football for one of the Palmetto State’s rival programs.

Jones continues to work Thomas and do his part to help Clemson land the coveted recruit.

“My message to him is basically that you can come play with your close friends and play for ACC titles and compete for national championships,” Jones said, “or you can go and not even win your conference championship and you can take a serious beat down once a year.”

IMG also made a stop at South Carolina before heading to Clemson. Thomas said today that he’ll visit South Carolina again for its spring game on April 1.

Jones hopes to get back to Clemson for its spring game a week later.

He is hard at work as he keeps preparing for his senior season and future at Clemson.

“I’ll definitely just stay in the weight room,” he said, “and we just got a new DC (Keith Goganious) so I’ll be picking at his brain and try to learn everything I can from him since he played LB in the NFL.”
