Conn, Reed interested in Grayson DB

A long and aggressive cornerback with good coverage and ball skills, Jalen Alexander has seen offers start to roll in this year.

The sophomore from Loganville (Ga.) Grayson got his first one from Auburn in February. South Carolina, Syracuse, Iowa State and Missouri have all followed this month.

Last month, Alexander attended Clemson’s junior day with the “True 19” crop of prospects from the Peach State.

“The visit was great,” Alexander told TCI. “I got a chance to see the dorms and the beautiful facilities Clemson has, and also I got a chance to talk with coach (Mickey) Conn and coach (Mike) Reed. I had a great time.”

Co-defensive backs coaches Conn, a former head coach at Grayson, and Reed want to see more of Alexander in person this summer.

“They both told me how much they like and would love to have me at their camp,” Alexander said.

Alexander (6-0, 160) has made trips to Notre Dame, Michigan State and Auburn since visiting Clemson on March 4.

Georgia, Kansas State, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Tennessee are showing interest along with Clemson.

Alexander said it would be humbling to get an offer from the Tigers in the future.

“Clemson was big on developing their players to be the best they can be,” he said. “Like Coach (Dabo) Swinney said, ‘Best is the Standard’ and it would mean a lot to receive an offer from a big school like Clemson. It would humble me & push me to work harder.”
