Rumors were floating recently that Curtis Fann had made his college decision, and when the 2019 defensive end caught wind of them, he put an end to them.

Fann cleared up the confusion, calling the rumors “completely false” in a post on social media, and reiterated that to The Clemson Insider.

“I don’t know how that got about,” he said, laughing. “I’m still just taking it easy, taking my time.”

It’s still early in the recruiting process for Fann, who received his first offer from South Carolina just a couple of months ago in mid-May.

Since then, the product of Twin City (Ga.) Emanuel County Institute has picked up offers from some of college football’s top programs such as Clemson, Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Florida and Florida State.

After getting checked out by defensive line coach Todd Bates during the spring evaluation period, Fann competed at the Dabo Swinney Camp in June and earned the offer from Clemson.

Fann has been in touch with Bates since and talked to him this week.

“He said he knows I can set the edge, and he’s trying to get me back up there as soon as possible,” Fann said. “Last time I went I didn’t get to do a full tour, so I’ve got to get a look at the dorms and all that stuff, more in-depth.”

Fann most recently visited Auburn last weekend after going to Georgia, Clemson and South Carolina last month. He hopes to return to Clemson in August and wants to visit Florida State soon as well.

He named Clemson, Auburn and Florida State as the schools recruiting him the hardest right now, and said the ACC’s Tigers are an early favorite of his.

“Clemson is definitely at the top,” Fann said. “I don’t have any leaders, but they’re high on my list. I love Clemson.”

Fann mentioned Clemson’s coaching staff as one of the reasons he is high on the Tigers.

“It’s a family feel when I’m at Clemson,” he said. “I can see myself there.”

What factors will Fann prioritize in his future college choice?

“I think it’s going to come down to the people at the school and what kind of relationships I have with the coaches and current players,” he said.

Fann was rated as a four-star in Scout’s recent rankings update.

As a sophomore last season, he registered 63 tackles, seven sacks and five forced fumbles.
