4-star RB has ‘great time’ at Clemson

Four-star running back Jaren Mangham returned to Tiger Town in mid-July for his second visit to Clemson in as many months and third this year.

The class of 2019 prospect from Cass Tech High in Detroit, Mich., traveled with his head coach and a small group of recruits from Michigan that included the country’s top 2019 offensive tackle, Devontae Dobbs.

“I had a great time as usual when I am down there,” Mangham told The Clemson Insider.

Mangham (6-1, 215) previously visited Clemson in early June to compete at the first session of the Dabo Swinney Camp. Before that, he made his first visit to Clemson in March.

A few things, including the slide in Clemson’s football operations facility, highlighted the latest visit for Mangham.

“I got to try on some jerseys,” he said. “I saw the finished weight room, and I also got to go down the slide again. So that was pretty cool.”

Mangham also was able to speak with Clemson running backs coach Tony Elliott again.

“He just saw that I have been going to a lot of schools, and we just talked, so I hope to hear from him soon,” Mangham said.

After camping at Clemson, Mangham went to Colorado, Nebraska and Wyoming in June as well before going to LSU and Ohio State this month along with Clemson.

Over the past couple of months, he has picked up offers from Colorado, Colorado State, Duke, Iowa State, Oregon and Washington State to go along with offers from schools such as Arizona, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Missouri, Pittsburgh and UCLA.

Elliott broached the subject of a potential Clemson offer with Mangham.

“He said he will be starting on our running back class in August,” Mangham said.

Mangham is ranked as a four-star prospect by most of the major recruiting services. 247Sports ranks him as the No. 6 prospect from Michigan and No. 170 overall prospect in the 2019 class.
