With Clemson’s running back situation slowly coming into formation as the season comes to a start, the Tigers are already looking forward to 2019 for the next player to headline the prolific offensive position. Four-star recruit Devyn Ford could fit the bill for that running back spot in their recruiting class.
The 5-foot-11, 185-pound product out of North Stafford (Va.) High recently took a visit to Ohio State and said he plans on visiting Clemson, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Ohio State and possibly Penn State this upcoming football season. He currently does not have a set date for his visit to Death Valley, but said there is one main thing he will be looking for when he visits schools this fall.
“Just if they have my major and mainly academics,” he said.
Ford told The Clemson Insider that UNC, Virginia Tech, Ohio State and Penn State are showing the most interest in him right now, but Clemson has “a good chance” at being one of his favorites when he makes his final decision.
Whichever game he chooses to take a visit to Clemson for, Ford told TCI, while he hopes to establish “a relationship with coaches,” he really wants to get the full picture from the Tigers coaching staff.
“I mean the truth, if they show me who they offered where they see me playing and the relationship between me and the coaches,” he said. “…also if the school has what I wanna major in then those will determine if it’s a good fit for me.”
If those are all checked off of Ford’s list when he visits, he said Clemson would be getting a dedicated winner.
“A focused dedicated player that would do anything to win. A player who will put in the work to become one of the greats which I aspire to be,” he said. “Not just dedicated to football, but to the class room too.”
