Belleview (Fla.) four-star offensive tackle Michael Tarquin has been to Clemson three times in the last year and a half, but the top 2019 prospect will get a different experience when he visits again on Saturday for the Georgia Tech game.
“I’m very excited,” Tarquin said of the upcoming trip. “I’ve never been to a Clemson game.”
Tarquin (6-5, 290) competed at the Dabo Swinney Camp in the summer of 2016. Clemson offered him this past May and most recently hosted him for a visit in June.
Clemson offensive line coach Robbie Caldwell continues to recruit him hard.
“I get texts from him all the time and we speak on the phone,” Tarquin said.
The message from Caldwell has been straightforward.
“He wants me to be a Tiger,” said Tarquin.
In addition to Clemson, Tarquin touts offers from Auburn, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State and Oklahoma among others.
Tarquin named Clemson one of his leaders heading into the visit.
“Ohio State, South Carolina, Clemson, Miami,” he said.
Why do the Tigers have a spot at the top of his list?
“I just really like them,” Tarquin said. “They’ve recruited since my freshman year.”
Tarquin is ranked by the major recruiting services as a consensus top-250 prospect in the 2019 class. ESPN ranks him as the No. 11 tackle and No. 119 overall prospect in the next cycle.
