Tigers impress top cornerback during elite junior day
Clemson played host to around two dozen prospects on Saturday for the program’s elite junior day.
One of the top prospects in attendance was Virginia Beach (Va.) Bishop Sullivan four-star cornerback Sheridan Jones.
Jones (6-1, 165) received an offer from Clemson on Jan. 11. His offer sheet also features Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Ohio State, Penn State and others.
After his visit concluded, The Clemson Insider caught up with Jones about his experience at the junior day:
TCI: How did you enjoy the visit, and what was the highlight of your time on campus?
Jones: “The visit was great. I really enjoyed being in the family atmosphere and spending time with Coach (Mike) Reed, Coach (Brent) Venables and meeting Coach (Dabo) Swinney. I also liked the atmosphere of the stadium.”
TCI: Who came with you on the visit, and how did they enjoy it?
Jones: “My mom, aunt and godbrother. They really enjoyed it also. They were excited.”
TCI: What did you hear from the coaches?
Jones: “That Clemson is a big family, and how they set out a plan for their players so they can use football and not let football use them. Also for the 2019 class, it’s the first time in a couple years they’re accepting a full recruiting class. … They told me they love how I play and want to see me in their defense in a couple years locking guys up and making plays.”
TCI: What do you think of Clemson’s football operations facility?
Jones: “The facility was real nice. I like what they’re building around there.”
TCI: Did the visit help Clemson’s chances of landing you?
Jones: “It did for sure.”
