Clemson made 15 three-pointers on 30 attempts, while guard Marcquise Reed scored 20 points, including a go-ahead triple with 1:42 left in the game as the 20th-ranked Tigers downed No. 19 UNC, 82-78, Tuesday at Littlejohn Coliseum in Clemson.
It was Clemson’s first win over North Carolina in eight years, a span of 10 games, and the first in the Brad Brownell era.
The Tigers also got 17 points from Gabe DeVoe and 14 from guard Shelton Mitchell. Clemson’s 15 three-pointers were the most by a Brownell led Clemson team and the third most in a game all-time in school history.
North Carolina was led by Cameron Johnson’s game-high 32 points and Joel Berry’s 27 points.
