Clemson plays eight bowl teams who finished with winning records in 2017 according to the 2018 football schedule.
The Tigers play their third game of the season on Sept. 15 against Georgia Southern at Clemson Memorial Stadium. This will be the first meeting between Clemson and Georgia Southern.

Last meeting: This will be the first meeting between Clemson and Georgia Southern.
Last season: Under head coach Tyson Summers, Georgia Southern got off to a rough start with an 0-6 record. In those six games, the Eagles allowed 248 points or 41.3 a game. Mid-way through the season, Summers was fired and assistant coach Chad Lunsford was named interim head coach. They made improvements over the second half of the season allowing 23.0 points per game over the last six games. The Eagles finished 2-10.
Coaching staff: After being named interim head coach, Chad Lunsford was named the official head coach after the season.
Andrew Dodge, Chris Foster, Jeremy Rowell and Juston Wood were all retained from the previous staff while Victor Cabral, Travis Cunningham, Bob DeBesse, Charlie Harbison, Ron Hudson and Scot Sloan are new hires.
Returning: On offense, Georgia Southern returns quarterback Shai Werts, leading running back Wesley Fields, running back Monteo Garrett, wide receivers Malik Henry and Obe Fortune, as well as eight offensive linemen who started at least one game.
On defense, the Eagles return four linebackers who made double-digit tackles, defensive end Raymond Johnson, 2017 TFls and sacks leader Logan Hunt, safeities RJ Murray, Jusjua Moon, and Sean Freeman as well as corners Monquavion Brinson and Kindle Vildor. Also returning will be fullback Wesley Kennedy II and wide receiver Dexter Carter Jr.
The Eagles also return placekicker in all-conference selection Tyler Bass.
Additions: The Eagles signed a total of 23 for their 2018 class, including 11 who had a three-star ranking from 247 Sports. The Eagles added 14 players on defense, four defensive linemen, cornerbacks and safeties apiece, and two linebackers, and nine on offense, a quarterback, running back, three offensive linemen and four receivers. The Eagles had the highest percentage of signees from Georgia of all the state’s FBS schools and had the top-ranked class in the Sun Belt.
Subtractions: Leading returner Myles Campbell will be the biggest loss for the Eagles.
