Clemson offers standout Georgia DE

Clemson has offered Lawrenceville (Ga.) Archer 2019 defensive end Colby Wooden, he announced via social media on Wednesday.

“Truly blessed and honored to receive an offer from Clemson University,” Wooden wrote in a Twitter post.

Wooden (6-3, 225) has also picked up offers from Florida State, Michigan, Arkansas and Maryland since the calendar turned to 2018.

In addition to those schools, Wooden cites offers from Georgia, Auburn, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Wisconsin, South Carolina, Michigan State, Mississippi State and others.

Wooden visited Clemson for the Orange & White spring game last April and told TCI afterward that an offer from the Tigers would be big for him.

“I like the fact that they really stress the importance of family,” he said. “It would be huge for me.”

Wooden is ranked by ESPN as the No. 265 overall prospect in the 2019 class. He is teammates at Archer with four-star cornerback Andrew Booth, one of Clemson’s top defensive back targets in the class of 2019.
