Horn Lake (Miss.) five-star Nakobe Dean is ranked as the No. 1 prospect in Mississippi and a top-three linebacker for the 2019 class by some recruiting services. He is unanimously regarded as a top-55 overall prospect nationally.
Dean has amassed 20 scholarship from many of the nation’s top programs, including Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame and most recently, Clemson.
The 6-foot-1, 215-pounder reported the offer from Clemson on Thursday. TCI caught up with Dean to get his thoughts on the Clemson offer.
“I feel like Clemson is a top-tier school and is great on the field,” Dean said. “And I hope to find out about off-the-field aspects (academics) soon.”
Thus far this calendar year, Dean has made unofficial visits to Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State and Ole Miss.
Dean expressed his desire to check out Clemson after earning the offer.
“I feel as if I need to get down there and visit the campus,” he said.
What is Dean looking for in his future college of choice?
“A school that will prepare me after football as well as for football,” he said.
Dean is considered the No. 24 overall prospect in the 2019 class according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
As a junior in 2017, Dean totaled 147 tackles, including 25 for loss and nine sacks. He was recently invited to participate in the 2019 U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio.
