5-star receives offer from Clemson on visit

Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day School 2020 five-star defensive end Jacolbe Cowan visited Clemson on Saturday for its junior day and received an offer from the Tigers while on campus.

Clemson joins a long list of high-profile offers for Cowan that includes Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, Tennessee and others.

Today marked Cowan’s third time on campus, as he also attended Clemson’s junior day last March before returning for the Auburn game last season.

TCI recently spoke with Cowan, who said an offer from Clemson would mean a lot to him.

“Clemson is a wonderful school that has been a top-tier football program for a long time,” he said. “A Clemson offer would definitely be a blessing to me.”

Cowan (6-5, 250) is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 2 strong-side defensive end and No. 8 overall prospect in the 2020 class.

In nine games as a sophomore last season, Cowan recorded 37 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, two caused fumbles and a fumble recovery.
